For Vince’s 18th birthday, his father sent him to Jack’s Camera store in Philadelphia to buy a Polaroid camera. Instead, they sent him home with a Konica 35mm rangefinder camera and a book.
For that, Vince remains eternally grateful to both his father and the guy at Jack’s.
So began a lifelong passion for photography that helps Vince to see and share the beauty of this world. He finds it most satisfying to create an image of an everyday subject or scene that conveys the beauty and emotion experienced at that moment. His favorites are often natural scenes or subjects that so easily go unnoticed, or at best pass fleetingly by others.
“While I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to some very beautiful places, I try not to rely on exotic locations,” explains Vince. “Most of my photographs are taken within a few miles from home. I’ve taken some of my best images, literally in my own backyard.”
He kept his hand in photography as an avid hobbyist throughout his professional career, which he began as a nuclear engineer, spent largely in IT technical support and development, and ended teaching high school mathematics.
