Crystal Domino
Oil Paintings
In the oil paintings of Crystal Domino you’ll see masterful commands of composition, light, shadow and brush control.
It’s also easy to see that she has a lot of fun painting. Crystal will handle a quirky subject that strikes her fancy–say a couple rotund seniors beachcombing–with the same enthusiasm and finesse that she’ll bring to a classic landscape or still life. Her ability to capture the heart of a dog or cat in a painting earns her many pet portrait commissions.
Crystal may be a “new” painter by her own estimation, but you wouldn’t know it from her work. She dabbled in arts most of her life, keeping a hand in drawing and photography while she grew up in Alaska, earned a degree in Biology at the University of Idaho, and moved to Berks County and raising three children. In 2003, sparked by oil painting classes at Bruce Becker’s Warehouse Studios, she picked up the brushes seriously, and hasn’t put them down since then. Her talent has earned her shows at Art Plus Gallery, DoubleTree Hotel, GoggleWorks, Studio B, Yokum Institute and the YR Club.
As art critic Ron Schira notes, “Domino’s oils are bold and delicate at once…(her) academic handling of light, distance and form makes for a pleasurable experience and an exhibition worth seeing.” (Reading Eagle, 8/21/16)
