STEVE FABIAN
Oil Paintings
Steve is inspired by the good, the bad, and the ugly. The old masters, as well as contemporary artists. By the natural world, and by human nature. He paints because he has to and thinks that all forms of art are a celebration of what it means to be human. He feels that art is all about imagination & feelings. He believes that it should stir emotions and start discussions.
His color palette consists of mostly cool colors, pale blues, turquoise, magenta, cool greens, and muted yellows. He finds these colors tranquil and peaceful which is how many people have described his paintings. Some of his paintings are executed "En Plein Air" (outside, on site), some are painted from photo references, and others are from his imagination or memories.
“Art should cause you to feel something, joy, sorrow, love, happiness, introspection; even fear, disgust, or anger,” he explains. “Everyone sees a piece of art differently based on their life experiences and beliefs.”
Steve has been developing his deep love of the natural world since moving to Berks County, Pennsylvania, at the age of three. After a brief stint as a Biology major at Penn State he transferred to Kutztown University where he earned a BFA in Communication Design. Since then, he has had the privilege of studying drawing, painting, and other art forms under many wonderful people.
Steve and his wife, an accomplished potter, live and make art, in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania.
