MARCH 2025 FRIEND OF THE MONTH
CATHERINE SHEARER
Catherine’s passion for art began at a very early age with frequent visits to the Reading Public Museum where her mother, Sara Hain Shearer, was a teacher, and her mother’s close friend Earl L. Poole (1891-1972) was the Director as well as a well-known artist in his own right.
She has ancestral roots in the arts as well, being related to Christopher High Shearer (1846 -1926), his brother, Edmund L. Shearer (1851-1935), and Christopher’s son, Victor Shearer (1872-1951).
With her visits to the Gallery, and attending the exhibits, she is pleased to have the opportunity to meet many new friends and artists, while admiring all the talent that exists in our community and beyond. As a Trustee of The Berks History Center, Catherine has been a strong supporter of the collaboration and resulting events continuing to take place between Art Plus Gallery and the History Center.
